Rollie L. Harris, Jr., 83, of Richmond, Kansas, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Ottawa Retirement Village. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, with military honors by the United States Air Force. Family will meet with friends following the service. Cremation is planned after the service, with inurnment at Richmond Cemetery to be held at a later date. Rollie was born Thursday, April 7, 1932, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Rollie Leon Sr. and Alice Ellen (Fuller) Harris. He grew up and attended schools in Kansas City, Missouri, before moving to Richmond where he lived for twenty-nine years. Rollie was united in marriage with Mary Richardson July 22, 1964, in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home after fifty years of marriage. He was a lifelong truck driver, retiring after thirty years. Rollie served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from January 1950 to January 1954. His decorations and citations included the Korean Service, U.N. Service, Good Conduct, and National Defense metals. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. Survivors include his six children, Dale Harris of Florida, Carla Coop of Missouri, Glen Harris of Florida, Betty Moss of Texas, Kathy Harris of Ottawa, and Linda Conner; many grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two sisters. Rollie was a jack-of-all-trades and able to fix anything. He will be greatly missed.
