Rolland P. Ferris, Jr., 84, of Pomona, Kansas, died Saturday, February 13, 2021, at his home with family by his side. Family will meet with friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, March 14, 2021, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Inurnment at Oak Hill Cemetery, Quenemo, to be scheduled later. Rolland was born December 28, 1936, at Scranton, Kansas, the son of Rolland P. Ferris, Sr. and Amy L. (Burgess) Ferris. He was a lifelong Franklin County resident living in Centropolis and Ottawa. In the early 1970’s, Rolland moved to Pomona, where he made his home until his death. He graduated from Wellsville High School with the class of 1954. Rolland was united in marriage to Shirley Foulk. They celebrated 48 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on October 18, 2007. He was a lifelong mechanic employed at OTASCO in Ottawa for nearly 20 years and Ottawa Firestone for 15 years, retiring in the mid-1980’s. Rolland later worked at BD&J Drill in Ottawa as an assembler for several years. Rolland enjoyed woodworking, camping, fishing, traveling, and working on cars. He always enjoyed his family and the time they spent together. He was also preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Dorothy Evans and Phyllis Ferris, and brother, Dale Ferris. Survivors include four children, Cindy Saffer-Ferris of Williamsburg, Beth Runnells of Pomona, Rolland P. Ferris III of Pomona, and Kenneth Ferris (Janelle) of Vassar; seven siblings, Jim Ferris (Linda), Martha Ruffer (Joe), Bill Ferris (Carol), Marion Ferris (Monica), Butch Ferris (Sandy), David Ferris (Tara), and Kay Napp (fiancé Johnny); eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
