Roger William Millbern, age 69 of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Friday, January 11, 2013. He was born on Friday, February 26, 1943 in Vinland, Kansas, the son of Jerald and Frances (Cooley) Millbern. Roger was a lifelong Franklin County, Ottawa resident. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1961. On June 28, 1975 Roger was united in marriage to Ginger Steenrod in Ottawa, Kansas. They shared thirty-seven years of marriage. She survives of their home. Roger was previously married to Gail Ballard in 1965, they were later divorced. Roger worked as a service technician at Ottawa Cable TV for thirty years retiring in 1998. Roger served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War in the Pacific Theater from 1961 to 1965 on the USS Pine Island as an Aviation Electricians Mate. He was a life member of the Aerie Lodge #2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles (Ottawa) serving as treasurer and past president. He is survived by his: Wife – Ginger Millbern of Ottawa, Kansas Daughter – Deanna Millbern and her companion, Mike Osborne of Ottawa Son – Tim Millbern and wife Marlene of Ottawa Son – Ryan Millbern and wife Racheal of Ottawa Grandchildren – Amanda Cantrell and husband Cody, Scotty Kiefer and fiancé Shelby Florentin, Joel Young, MaKayla Millbern, Abigail Richardson, Sadie Millbern, Daniel Millbern, Kaytin Timmons, Teagen Marlar, Brayden Millbern, and grandpup, Willy Wonka Great-grandchildren – Kristopher Cantrell, Kassie Cantrell, Kolby Cantrell, Kaylee Cantrell, and Italia Florentin Multiple nieces and nephews Step Father – Floyd Schmoe of Ottawa Brother – Gary Millbern and wife Donna of Toronto, Kansas Brother – David Schmoe and wife Karen of Eudora, Kansas Brother – Ron Schmoe of Jones Creek, Texas Sister – Lori Kern of Horton, Kansas He is preceded in death by his: Son – Danny Millbern Parents – Jerald Millbern and Frances Schmoe SERVICES: Funeral Services will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 15, 2013, Graveside Services by Aerie Lodge #2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles (Ottawa). IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Millbern at Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 P.M. Monday, to the service hour where the family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday. CEMETERY: Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas, with military honors by the United States Navy Honor Guard.
