Roger L. Ferguson, 74, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 2, 2019, at the First United Methodist Church. Family will meet with friends from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. prior to the service. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Roger was born June 3, 1945, in rural Wellsville, Kansas, the son of Edward W. and Vera (Potter) Ferguson. He lived in the Wellsville and Ottawa areas his entire life. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1963. He attended Ottawa University for 4 years, competing in football, basketball and track. Roger served in the Kansas National Guard from 1966 to 1972 attaining the rank of Sergeant. On December 1, 1967, Roger was united in marriage to Camilla Brown at the First United Methodist Church of Ottawa. He was a self-employed, lifelong farmer. Roger was also employed for 13 years at FMC Chemical Company in Lawrence, Kansas working nights in order to farm daily. Roger was a devoted family man and his most favorite activities centered around his family, his grandchildren and their activities and sporting events. He enjoyed driving around checking area fields, meeting his brother’s for dinner, watching westerns with Camilla and their cat Callie, and all the family vacations when his kids were growing up. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Vera Ferguson and his brother, Eddie Ferguson. Roger is survived by his wife of 51 years, Camilla, of the home. Other survivors include two children, daughter, Debbie Reed and Brian Hogelin and son, Bryan Ferguson and wife Kishawn; three brothers, Fred Ferguson and wife Marlene, Larry Ferguson and wife Miriam, and Bill Ferguson and wife Rhonda; sister-in-law, Nancy Ferguson; and four grandchildren, Kord Ferguson, Cole Reed, Brynn Ferguson, and Brock Reed. Additionally, welcoming Madison and Kingston Hogelin as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, family and friends. The family suggests memorial contributions to OHS FFA c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
