Roger Dean Shambaugh, age 55, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Sunday, January 16, 2011. He was born on Wednesday, February 16, 1955, in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of Cloy Edward and Evalyn (Collins) Shambaugh. He has been a resident of Ottawa since 1969, moving from Paola, Kansas. Roger graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1975. He served on the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department for thirty-one years, retiring in 2010. He attended Gun Sight Training School and Kansas Law Enforcement Center and taught several classes including Midwest Small Arms Academy and Concealed to Carry in Franklin County. Roger served in the United States Marine Corps from March of 1975 to March of 1979, receiving the Good Conduct Medal and Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. He was a member of IPSC(International Practical Shooting Confederation), NRA (National Rifle Association), and APT (Association of Professional Trainers Academy). He trained at API (American Pistol Institute). On December 19, 1987, Roger was united in marriage with Kelly Wilson in Ottawa, Kansas. She survives of their home. Survivors include; Wife-Kelly Shambaugh of the home Daughter-Brianna May Hutchison and her husband, Peter, of Ottawa, Kansas Son-Bryce Lynn Shambaugh and his wife, Holly, of Gardner, Kansas Son-Marion Edward Shambaugh of Ottawa, Kansas Daughter-Kelsie Nicholle Shambaugh and her fiancé, Warren Barnes, of Ottawa, Kansas Brother-Larry Edward Shambaugh Brother-Gene Collins Shambaugh Sister-Janet Lynn Gill and her husband, Harpal, of New Jersey Grandchild-Katarina Shambaugh Grandchild-Santino Hutchison Grandchild-Ashlynn Shambaugh Grandchild-Aubree Shambaugh Grandchild-Aleah Shambaugh Grandchild-Avery Ferrell He s preceded in death by, Parents-Cloy Edward and Evalyn Shambaugh Grandson-Harmon Hutchison. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 21, 2011. IN STATE: Mr. Shambaugh will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Thursday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Thursday evening. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to Franklin County Cancer Foundation, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
