Roger Dean Prothe, 86, of Paola, KS went to meet his heavenly father on July 6, 2021. He was the son of Elmer Prothe & Josephine (Overbeck) Prothe. He was born on Dec. 6, 1934 in Miami County, KS and baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Paola. Roger grew up on the family farm. He attended grade school at Vickers Country School and graduated from Paola High School in 1952. He was a member of the State Championship football team and inducted into the Paola High School Football Hall of Fame. In October 3, 1954, Roger married his high school sweetheart Clarene Lyon at the United Methodist Church in Paola. They made their home in Paola and became parents to three wonderful children Ron, LeAnne, and Scott. Roger enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and coaching his boys in baseball. He was a farmer and welder and erected the structural steel in new large buildings and schools. Roger is survived by his wife Clarene, daughter LeAnne Prothe Larsen and her husband Jeff, daughter-in-law Kelly Prothe, brother Phil Prothe, 8 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his two sons Ron and Scott, daughter-in-law Brenda (Cree) Prothe, and parents Elmer and Josephine (Overbeck) Prothe.
