Roger Dean Everitt, 77, died Friday, December 8, 2017 at his home with friends and family in Louisburg, Kansas. He leaves his wife of 14 years, Linda Kay Everitt, his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Vickie Everitt, his son, Christopher Everitt, his step-sons, Jeff (Linda) Rahmeier, Cary (Kelly) Rahmeier and David(Kelly) Rahmeier. (David passed away November 10, 2017.) One brother, Larry (Donna) Everitt. Eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren--Isaac Everitt, Andrew Everitt, Elias Everitt, Kiley Rahmeier Mroczynski, Sarah Rahmeier Tenpenny, Aaron Rahmeier, Ryan Rahmeier and Carly Rahmeier. Two nieces Tina(Craig) Hoover and Sylvia Muskrat. He was preceded in death by his parents, Montee and Cova Everitt, stepdaughter, Lisa Kay Rahmeier and stepson, David Alan Rahmeier Roger was born and raised in Girard, Kansas, the second son of Montee and Cova Everitt. His older brother, Lt Col (ret) Larry Everitt resides with his wife in Ft Leavenworth, Kansas. Roger graduated from Girard High School in 1958. He attended Pittsburg State University Vocational School for one year, receiving training in mechanical drafting. His first career job was with Tweco as a welder in Wichita, Kansas. He married his first wife Celia Ysidro in 1961, just prior to leaving for his basic training into the Air Force. Roger served in the Air Force Reserves from 1961 to 1968. He was employed at Boeing Aircraft while in Wichita also, where he was trained in graphic arts. In the mid 60’s, Boeing moved him to Huntsville, Alabama. In Huntsville, he obtained work with International Business Machines (IBM). At IBM, he was given opportunity to work under the NASA contract for developing computer systems for the Apollo space program. He was part of the efforts to land man on the moon. Later in his career, he held positions in graphic design and management. Roger worked for IBM for 33 years, located at plants in Virginia, Minnesota and Colorado, retiring in 1997. On December 13, 2003, he married Linda Kay Rahmeier in Hawaii. They briefly resided in Pittsburg, KS before moving to Louisburg, KS. He had a passion for woodworking--building furniture, kitchen cabinets, cradles, etc. His woodshop was one of his pride and joys, sharing his craftmanship with family and friends. He also loved getting his cousins together for their yearly family reunion as well as entertaining family and friends at their home. Other hobbies earlier in life were golfing, fishing, reading, crossword puzzles, and cooking, especially his chili recipe over the open fire for his reunions. He usually had a cat or two in the woodshop to keep him company. A celebration of life will be held at Dengel and Son Funeral Home, 120 South Broadway, Louisburg, Kansas on Thursday, December 14, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Contributions in memory of Roger can be made to Kansas City Hospice and sent c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary 120 S.
