Roger Aberdeen Keith, 82, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 8, 2024, surrounded by family.
Family will greet friends Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 10:00am-12:00pm at Dengel and Son Mortuary, Ottawa.
Roger was born Monday, January 19, 1942, on the family farm in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of Clarence E. and Maurine (Ikenberry) Keith.
He graduated from Ottawa High School and pursued Business and Electronics studies at Kansas State and Wichita Tech.
Roger was a 4th generation farmer on his family’s farm for over fifty years. He served Franklin County as Ottawa Township Fire Chief for many years as well as serving as County Commissioner for the county planning board, on the City of Ottawa Planning Board, and as a jailor at the Franklin County Adult Detention Center.
He was united in marriage on December 29, 1973, In Ottawa, Kansas, to Linden J. Wallace. They later divorced. He then married Margie A. Eisenhower on March 1, 2001, in Ottawa.
Upon his retirement, Roger moved to Arkansas with Margie until their return to Ottawa in December 2021 to be closer to family.
Roger had a big heart and was passionate about serving and facilitating improvement in his community. He enjoyed building and servicing firearms, hunting, and meeting up with friends for coffee. Roger was fun-loving, energetic, and ornery. He will be missed my many.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Maurine; and wife Margie.
Survivors include daughter Ginger Acker; son Alan Keith; step-daughters Terry Elston (Bill), Linda Eisenhower, and Tonya Camp; brother Doug Keith (Luanne); sister Ann Christian; and several grandchildren.
