Rogenia "Genia" E. Wilson, 89, of Paola, passed away on February 24, 2015 at Vintage Park. Genia was born on June 6, 1925, in Taylorsville, Kentucky to James and Alma (Goodwin) Taylor. On June 12, 1943, in Ft. Lewis Washington she was united in marriage to Charles R. Wilson. They moved to Paola, Kansas, after the war, and raised three sons. In the early 60"s, she and her husband purchased the Wilson and Son Funeral Home from his father Roy Wilson. They moved from 110 Tower St. into the second floor of the funeral home where she became an integral part of its operation and managed the business. Genia loved to play golf, and belonged to the hole in one club, playing bridge, traveling, going to supper clubs, going out to eat and was very involved in the community and her church. At the First Presbyterian Church she held a number of positions, was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and taught Bible classes for over 20 years. She was a member of the P.E.O. sisterhood, a former City Council woman, former member of the Paola Country Club a founding member of the Hospital Auxiliary, and participated in many other community projects and organizations. Genia is survived by her three sons, Roderick T. Wilson of Florida, Chadwick D. Wilson of Paola, KS, and Todd S. Wilson of Leawood, KS; three grandchildren, Jeremy D. Wilson, Kristin Alber, and Jason R. Wilson, and six great grandchildren, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her father, James Pruitt Taylor, mother, Alma Jane Taylor, husband, Charles R. Wilson, and nine brothers and sisters: Howard Taylor, Ailene M. Knudsen, Mildred Frandsen, Mary Hall, Lois Arnold, James Taylor, Elizabeth Cook, Robert Taylor, and Ralph M. Taylor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, the Paola Free Library, Vintage Park Assisted Living in Paola or Grace Hospice.
