Robin Marie (Marvin) Alpert was born August 23, 1945 in Tacoma, Washington to Franklin Wright Marvin and Maureen Nelson (Martin) Marvin. She grew up in Tacoma and Gig Harbor, Washington with a brief stint in Sheridan, Wyoming. Graduating from Peninsula High School in 1963, she then went on to study at Central Washington State University graduating with degrees in music and education in 1968. She married Glenn Alpert May 5, 1973 in Tacoma, then they moved to a farm outside of Paola, Kansas in early 1974. In 1985, Glenn and Robin moved their family to Vancouver, Washington. She taught for many years as an elementary school teacher but found her true career vocation as an elementary school media specialist/librarian. Music remained a lifelong passion, and she was a sought-after soloist for churches in both Kansas and Washington. Singing in the church choir was a personal requirement for Robin, and her highest calling was praising God with the gift of her voice. Glenn and Robin were both heavily involved in alpacas, and she was one of the founders of Fiber to Fashion, the Cottage Industry Alpaca Breeders Association and the Alpaca Fiber Co-op. In 2002, they moved back to Kansas so they could expand their alpaca operation. She passed peacefully at home in Miami County, Kansas, April 17, 2019 after a long battle with chronic illnesses. Robin is survived by her husband Glenn Alpert; daughters Julia Alpert and Anna Alpert; granddaughters Siena Alpert and Ancelin Alpert; and a brother, Mark Marvin. She was preceded in death by her parents Franklin and Maureen (Martin) Marvin, and brothers Franklin and Scott Marvin. Services are scheduled for April 25, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Paola, Kansas at 2 pm. Wake to follow at NightHawk Winery (16381 W 343rd St Paola, KS) at approximately 4 pm.
