Roberta Angela Scheckel

Roberta A. Scheckel, age 70, of Paola, KS, died January 29, 2018 at her home.(Cremation) Roberta Angela Plummer-Scheckel also known as ‘G-Funk’ or Berta, age 70 of Paola, Ks earned her angel wings on January 29th, 2018. Berta was born December 14, 1947 in Pratt, Ks to James F. Plummer and Ethelene Alice (Scherman) Plummer. She graduated from Paola Ursuline Academy in 1965. She went on to helping others at the Osawatomie State Hospital as a Licensed Mental Health Technician II. On March 3, 1968 she gave birth to her daughter, Elizabeth Alice. A few years later on July 12th, 1971 she married Thomas R. Stainbrook. Tom and Berta then welcomed their son Andrew Ray on January 11th, 1972. Although Berta’s marriage with Tom ended, they have always stayed friends. Berta spent most of her life as a homemaker. She stayed home with Beth and Andy to care for them and she took tremendous pride in keeping an immaculately clean home. Berta was a beautiful person inside and out. Her smile was contagious and her love for family and friends was enormous. She could create a special bond with each and every person in her life. She also had a special place in her heart for her kitties. Berta loved going to antique shops and yard sales. She even owned an antique shop with her daughter for some time. She always had a knack for taking things that were old and tarnished and bringing them back to life. Berta was preceded in death by her parents James and Ethelene; and her grandparents Walter and Margaret Plummer, and Andrew and Ethel Scherman. Her funky soul lives on through her daughter and son-in-Law, Beth and Mike Tinker of Osawatomie, Ks and her son, Andy Stainbrook of Council Bluffs, Iowa; three brothers, Don Kantorv, Joe (Diana) Plummer, and Neal Plummer; her grandson, Forest Sears and wife Heather of Paola, Ks; granddaughter Chelsea Ison and husband Josh of Lenexa, Ks, and her step granddaughter Tiffany Courtney and husband Chris of Paola, Ks; great grandchildren; Tirzah-Rose, Jaylah, Kierah and Lyrah Sears and Seth Courtney all of Paola,Ks Berta’s services will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Paola, Ks. Visitation begins at 9am followed by funeral mass at 10am. Graveside services will be held at Holy Cross Cemetary immediately after mass. Berta loved to get glammed up so we will be glamming up for her by wearing florals or light vintage colors during her service.
