Robert 'Bob' Hamilton, 82, Princeton, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. He was born Friday, May 14, 1926, on a farm in the Greenwood Community to Emmett and Minnie (Lawson) Hamilton. He was a lifelong resident of Franklin County. He graduated from Pomona High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged as staff sergeant. He was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church. He was a farmer and worked at Standard Oil. He also worked as a letter carrier at the Ottawa Post Office for 30 years. After retirement, he worked for the City of Ottawa for 15 years caring for the flowers. He married Betty Joyce VanHorn Sept. 15, 1950, at the home of Rev. Oyerin in Ottawa. She survives. Survivors also include daughters, Debra McDermott and her husband, David, Princeton, and Cheryl Hamilton, DeSoto; a son, Richard V. Hamilton, and his wife, Holly, Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Matthew, Gabe, Ricky, Megan and Easton Robert and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene Hamilton, Earl Hamilton and Charles Hamilton; and a sister, Erma Thompson. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be sent to Greenwood Baptist Church in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa KS 66067.
