Robert Leon 'Bob' Andrews was born June 30, 1922 at Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas. He was the son of Charles 'C.E.' and Martha (Sluder) Andrews. Bob was a life long Ottawa resident, making his home here until his death on Saturday, May 27, 2006 at the age of eighty-three years. Bob attended Ottawa High School with the Class of 1940. Bob and his wife operated Ottawa Real Estate for many years until his retirement. He served in the United States Navy during WW II as a 2nd Class Petty Officer, Machinist Mate. He was stationed in the Pacific Theater. Robert was a life long member of the 15th Street Church of Christ, where he was also an Elder. He often sang or officiated at many funerals. He was also a long time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Memorial Post #5901, Ottawa, Kansas and the Ottawa Realtors Association. Bob loved to travel, sing, and play golf and he especially loved family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren. On November 22, 1941 Robert was united in marriage with Mary Eloise Okeson at Ottawa, Kansas. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Mark Andrews, and his wife, Penny, of Clinton, Missouri; a daughter, Jan Nearmyer, and her husband, Roger, of Wichita Falls, Texas; a sister, Helen Shaw, of Seattle, Washington; three grandsons, Dana Nearmyer and his wife, Debbie, Darin Nearmyer and his wife, Amy, and Lance Andrews and his wife, Carrie; two granddaughters, Lindsay Hunter and her husband, Justin, and Amy Allen and her husband, Rick; nine great grandsons, Brandon Allen, Jackson Andrews, Blake Nearmyer, Max Nearmyer, Aidan Hunter; five great granddaughters, Taylor Kathryn Allen, Madison Nearmyer, Tess Nearmyer, Sophie Nearmyer, and Cate Nearmyer, and nieces, nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Merle Andrews, Kenneth Andrews, Max Andrews, and Charles Andrews; six sisters, Sadie Anderson, Minnie Lewis, Bessie Sharp, Wilma Fulks, Genevieve Fredricks, Marvene Andrews; and a great granddaughter, Isabella Andrews. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at the 15th Street Church of Christ, 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 31, 2006. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery.
