Robert Lee Snodgrass

February 27, 1950 — April 7, 2019

Robert L. (Bob) Snodgrass, age 69, of Stilwell, KS died peacefully in the presence of his family on April 7, 2019 at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Bob was born in Excelsior Springs, MO on February 27, 1950; the second of four children to Esther and Vardie Snodgrass. He grew up working on his parents’ farm, and attended Lawson High School in Lawson, MO, where he excelled in sports. Bob went on to play football at Highland Junior College in Highland, KS, and Missouri Southern State College in Joplin, MO. It was in Joplin where he fell in love with Connie Travis, and the two were married on August 4, 1973. Bob and Connie settled in Kansas City, MO, where they had two children, Clayton and Erin. The family moved to Stilwell in 1987, where Bob established Metroplex Supply, an automotive fastener supply company that he owned and operated for 30 years. Bob was revered by family and friends as a kind, generous, and fun-loving man. His family knew him as a caring and resourceful father and husband, who had a remarkable ability to build or fix nearly anything. Bob’s five grandchildren, who endearingly refer to him as “Poppy,” were a source of immense pride. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed treating family and friends to outings to attend games for the Chiefs, Royals, and his beloved Missouri Tigers. In his role as a business owner, he earned the trust and loyalty of his customers, some of whom referred to him as “the go-to guy” for his willingness to go to great lengths to serve them. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Vardie and Esther, and his older brother, Dick. He is survived by his wife, Connie, of Stilwell; son Clayton and spouse Sarah, of Kansas City, MO; daughter, Erin Crofford and spouse Josh of Austin, TX; five grandchildren, Reese, Ruthie, Sam, Bobby, and J.R. He is also survived by his siblings, Patty Smith, of Mesa, AZ, and Dennis Snodgrass of Polo, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to the Missouri Southern Foundation, designated for the Department of Athletics.
