Robert L. Grandon

Robert Leroy Grandon, 73, of rural Louisburg, KS died February 27, 2015 on the family farm. He was born September 21, 1941 in Louisburg, KS. He was the youngest of four sons born to James Roy and Ruby Alvena (Nelson) Grandon. He grew up in Louisburg and graduated with the class of 1959 from Louisburg High School. On August 31, 1962 Robert married his high school sweetheart, Carol Ann Knecht at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Louisburg, KS. They would have been married 53 years. To this union two children were born, Catherine Ann and Ronald Joseph. They made their home on the Grandon family farm outside of Louisburg, where they still reside today. Bob worked all of his life as a truck driver and a farmer. Over the years he has been employed by Knecht Equipment Company, Scott Horrigan Irrigation Systems, Wayne Scott Construction, Union Gas Company and he worked the majority of his years at Peuser Farms until his health forced him to retire. Bob"s hobbies were his family and farming. His most enjoyable times were spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They are what he cherished most. Bob loved and lived for farming, working the land and raising cattle. He felt his greatest accomplishment would be to instill those same traits and moral values in both his children. He has now completed his accomplishment as his children have both been running the family farm with the assistance of his one and only grandson, Colby. Bob never knew a stranger and he was always good for a good joke and a good laugh. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy & Ruby Grandon and brothers, Jerry and Don Grandon. Survivors include his wife, Carol , of 52years; daughter, Cathy (Greg) Clayton, Bucyrus, KS; one son, Ronnie Grandon, Paola, KS; three grandchildren, Colby (Lori) Reed, Paola, KS; Shelby and Hayley Grandon, Paola, KS; two great granddaughters, Kensington and Braelynn Reed, Paola, KS; and one brother, Dale Grandon, Loveland, CO. The family suggests contributions be given to the Bob Grandon Memorial Scholarship Fund.
