Robert L. "Bob" Phillips

Robert L. “Bob” Phillips, 66, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022, at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Community Revival Center Church, 2749 Montana Rd., Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona. Bob was born July 18, 1955, at Ottawa, the son of Robert and Deloris (Blankenbeker) Phillips. He was a lifelong Ottawa resident, attending Ottawa High School. On March 16, 1974, Bob was united in marriage to Debbie Sink in Ottawa. Bob was currently employed as a purchasing agent at Cutler Repaving in Lawrence for over 20 years. He had previously worked at Buildex in Ottawa, Fogel Quarry, Ottawa, and Royal Tractor in New Century, Kansas, before settling with Cutler Repaving. He was a long-time member of the Ottawa Lodge 803, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and was a Cub Scout Pack Leader in the 1990’s. Bob enjoyed fishing, gardening, auctions, watching westerns, and was a lifelong fan of the KC Chiefs. Above all, he loved his family and grandchildren and the time they spent together. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Phillips, and brother Mike Phillips. Survivors include his wife Debbie Phillips of the home; two children, Misty Hempel (Eric), and Benjamin Phillips all of Ottawa; four grandchildren, Alyssa Bowen (Pete), Chase Hempel, Cairo Phillips, and Daemyn Helm; three great grandchildren; and six siblings, Shirley Griffin (David), Pam Ashburn (Ira), Debbie Crump, Steve Phillips (Robin), Bryan Phillips, and Scott Phillips. The family suggests memorial contributions to B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge 803 c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
