Robert "Bob" Joseph Sobba, 83, of Lawrence, Kansas, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.
He was born on Friday, October 28, 1939, in Garnett, Kansas, the son of Joe and Bertha (Pickert) Sobba.
On June 3, 1972, Bob married the love of his life, Norma Leach. The couple shared 51 years together.
Bob worked as a Iron Worker, for the Local #10 for 40 years. After retirement he volunteered at the animal shelter and loved to walk his dog everyday. Bob enjoyed physical activity and working outside to keep himself feeling young. He loved to dance and belonged to the senior dance club.
He frequently donated blood to the American Red Cross, as a service to his community. Bob was recognized for this and received a certificate for donating 10 gallons of blood.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Bertha Sobba; and brother Leroy Sobba.
Bob is survived by his wife, Norma Sobba, sons, Kenneth Sobba and J.R. Pennington, daughters, Terrie Titus and Debra Bugner, sisters, Bernice Brown and Mary Graham, brother, Earl Madison, as well as many extended family members and friends.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made payable to Prairie Paws Animal Shelter or American Red Cross, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
