Robert F. Cauffman, 87, of Quenemo, Kansas died Friday, August 9, 2013 at Olathe Medical Center. Memorial Service will be held at Lighthouse Community Church of God, 209 W. 2nd, Ottawa, 6:00 P.M. Monday, August 12, 2013. Robert was born on November 4, 1925 in Buchanan, Michigan. He was the son of Clarence and Mary (Wolford) Cauffman. Most of Robert’s life was lived in Kansas. He lived in Homewood for 15 years and Quenemo for 15 years. Robert married Jeannette A. Pitts in 1943, they later divorced. He then married Viola Fry in 1971, she preceded him in death. Robert then married Leona Watkins-Waldroop on June 29, 1998 in Enid, Oklahoma. She too preceded him in death on August 2, 2013. Survivors include his three children, Kendrew R. Cauffman and wife Diana of Carlsbad, New Mexico; Phyllis J. Bowley of Lafayette, Indiana; and Charles P. Cauffman of Carlsbad; two brothers, Lyle Cauffman and wife Bonnie of Buchanan, Michigan; and Tommy Cauffman and wife Darlene of Buchanan; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Cauffman; 2nd wife, Viola Fry; parents, Clarence and Mary Cauffman; four brothers; and one sister. Robert worked in residential and commercial construction. He served in the United States Army from March 10, 1944 to April 26, 1946. Robert was a people person who loved his family and friends. He was known as “grandpa” or “candy man” with the local residents. He sold candy and pop from his home in Quenemo, and enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, raising animals, and fishing, fishing, fishing.
