Robert Peter Ferner age 76 of Paola formally of Houston Texas passed away at his home Saturday Oct. 4th. Memorial Service will be Tuesday Oct. 7 at 10:00AM Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to the Southern Care Hospice in care of Penwell-Gabel Paola Chapel 305 N. Pearl Paola KS. 66071. Robert was born July 30, 1932 in Hoboken, New Jersey to Albert and Anna Muller Ferner. He graduated in 1950 from the Demarest High School in New Jersey. On December 4, 1952 he enlisted in the United States Army and served two years being discharged on November 12, 1954 as a PFC . He was united in marriage to Jeanne Benkert in Brooklyn, New York. They made their home in New York where he was employed as a Customs Broker for 50 years. He worked at the World Trade Center for 20 years before retiring in 2001. They lived in Houston Texas for 7 years before moving to Paola August of 2008 to be near their daughter Theresa. His enjoyed playing cards, playing the lottery, assembling and painting models, watching his grandsons sporting events, his granddaughters dance recitals, and was an avid New York Yankee Fan . He was preceded in death by his parents. Bob will be greatly missed by family and friends. Survivors are his wife Jeanne of the home, son Robert and wife Grace Ferner of East Meadow N.Y., son John and wife Wendy Ferner of Bellmore, N.Y., daughter Theresa and husband David Lopez of Paola, 6 grandchildren, Michael Ferner, Timothy Lopez, Matthew Ferner , Nina Lopez, Thomas Ferner, and Hannah Ferner.
