Robert Dean 'Bob' Burns was born on Wednesday, September 28, 1960, in Ottawa, Kansas. He was the son of Dale Loren and Opal Illene (Ledom) Burns. A lifelong resident, Bob made his home in Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas, until his death on Sunday, March 2, 2008, at the age of forty-seven years. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1979. He was employed, from 1979 to present, as a diagnostic technician by Ottawa Truck, now known as Kalmar Industries Corporation. He was a member of Teamsters Local #838, Kansas City, Missouri. Bob loved family gatherings, and known by his nick name, 'Big Uncle Bob', he was very interested in the kids of the family. He loved fishing and traveling, and was a Kansas City Chiefs fan. Anyone who knew him, knew he was a very loyal person and was always there for his family and friends. Bob is survived by three brothers, Bill Burns and his wife, Dawn, of Rantoul, Kansas, Randy Burns and his wife, Debra, of Ottawa, Kansas, Kenny Zook and his wife, Darla, of Ottawa, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Butch Couts; sister, Sandra Warren; and nephew, David Couts. SERVICES: Memorial services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2008. The family will meet with friends from 7 to 8:00 Wednesday evening.
