Robert Dalrymple, age 85, of Paola passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at KC Hospice House. Robert was born on December 24, 1926 in Fontana, Kansas to Merle and Mable Addy Dalrymple. He graduated from Fontana High School in 1944. After high school Robert enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944 and later joined the United States Army in 1945 being honorably discharged in 1946. On December 2, 1945 Robert was united in marriage to Margaret Clinton in Paola, Kansas. He worked as a welder with the Fluor Corporation and Taylor Forge of Paola. He later became a member of the Pipefitters Local Union # 533 where he was a construction superintendent for Natkin Construction Company most of his work life. In 1989 he retired and pursued those things that meant the most to him, such as gardening and being around friends and family. He was a member of Paola First Baptist Church, Lifetime member Paola VFW, the American Legion, and the Elks. His hobbies were working in his garage on projects, his vegetable garden, barbequing, water sports during early family years, watching college and professional football, and spending time with family and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Richard Dalrymple. He is survived by his wife Margaret of the home; two sons Lonnie and his wife Pat of Basehor, Kansas and Randy and his wife Terrie of Olathe, Kansas; one daughter Sandy Wood of Osawatomie, Kansas; one sister Arlene Sodamann of St. George, Kansas; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
