Robert "Bob" Simmons Conley Robert "Bob" Simmons Conley, 102, Louisburg Kansas, went home to be with the Lord on Monday February 25, 2008 at the Louisburg Health Care and Rehabilitation Center where he lived since January 12, 2007. In Lieu of flowers the family request memorials are made to the Baptist Temple. Bob was born Aug. 23, 1905 in a house built by his grandfather in LaCygne, KS the son of James Claude and Emma Alice (Simmons) Conley; he was the eldest of seven children. He lived in the LaCygne area most of his life attending New Home School till 1911, then Willowridge School completing 8th grade. On Nov 18, 1926 Bob and Marie McMeins were married in Butler, MO. They lived a short time in Pritchett, CO returning to this area to farm. To this union two children were born, Robert Dale and Lois Marie. Bob worked at North American Bomber Plant a KC Star route carrier and later Bendix Corp. (Honeywell) retiring in Sept of 1970. He worked as a guard at LaCygne Power Plant after retiring from Bendix. He served on the Excelsion School Board, LaCygne City Council 6 years and Historical Society Board. Bob was a member of Old Fellows No. 66, Elk Lodge 921and Lions Club and he was a life time member retiree T.A.M. Lodge 778. On February 16, 1970 Bob and Mary Bible Burkhead were married at Miami, OK. On April 23, 1993, Brother Jim Gray and Pastor Marty Hughs led him to the Lord Jesus Christ, he now has arrived, and Bob is now home. Preceding him in death is son Robert Dale Conley, wife Marie McMeins Conley, his parents, two brothers Edward and Alec Conley, two sisters Margaret McGuire and Mabel Nelson, great grandson Jay Patrick Vail, great grand daughter Aubree Janean Vail, wife Mary Bible Burkhead Conley, step grandson Eric Burkhead and son-in-law Stanley C. Walley. Survivors include daughter Lois Marie Walley of Louisburg, KS, grandsons Dennis Lee Vail of Louisburg, KS, Larry Jay Vail of Olathe KS, and Micheal Lynn Vail of Lawrence, KS. Two step sons Darrel and James Burkhead. A brother Keith Conley, Los Luna"s NM and a sister Helen Oliver of San Diego CA. Three step grandchildren. Nine great grand children. Nine great- great grandchildren. Two step great grandsons, a host of relatives and friends.
