Robert Allen Cheek

Robert Allen Cheek, 77, Paola Kansas died on February 4th, 2025 at Advent Health South under the care of wonderful people. He was born in Kansas City, Kansas on November 2nd, 1947, the son of Eldridge and Opal Cheek. He graduated from Turner High School in 1966 and enlisted in the Air Force. He fought for our country in Vietnam and stationed around the country. He was united in marriage to Jacqulyn Sakaitis on April 19th,1969 for a wonderful 55 years. He worked at the Railroad for a time but his career was at Kansas City Power and Light for 30 years where he was a journeyman mechanic. He was known for being ornery. He loved fishing and hunting but most of all, he always had a project. He could build anything and fix anything. He was the best handyman. In his later years, diabetes took a toll on him and he lost his eyesight. That was an incredible thing to overcome and he did it with grace. He spent many hours in front of the television listening to old movies that he could picture in his head, and lots of music channels. Bob was a friend to everyone he met and was always willing to help people.

Bob was proceed in death by Eldridge & Opal Cheek and his son Derek Cheek. He is survived by his wife Jackie, son Jason, granddaughter ,Ashley, great granddaughter, AnnAdele, His sister Rita and her children and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Dengel & Son Paola Chapel, 305 N. Pearl Street Paola, KS 66071. Visitation will be at 1pm and Memorial Service at 2pm, February 8th,2025. A burial is scheduled at Leavenworth National Cemetery for Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 12:30 pm.
