Robert W. Bob Quiggle, age 83, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Sunday, October 11, 2009, in Baldwin City, Kansas. He was born on Sunday, September 19, 1926, in Galesburg, North Dakota. He was the son of Robert W. Quiggle, Sr. and Merle (Fletcher) Quiggle. He was born, raised and married in North Dakota. For many years, he lived in St. Paul, Minnesota; fifteen years in Tucson, Arizona; one year in Pomona, Kansas; and the past three years in Ottawa. Bob attended schools in North Dakota. In the late1940’s, Bob began his career of truck driving in the family business, Quiggle Moving & Storage. In the 1950’s and 1960’s, he was an over-the-road tractor-trailer operator for moving companies, including North American, United and Allied. In the 1970’s and early 1980’s, he was head of maintenance for Space Center Storage Company in St. Paul, Minnesota. Bob served as a Private in the United States Army from 1945 to 1946, stationed in New Jersey. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Ottawa. He was a sixty-five year member of Knights of Columbus; 4th Degree Knight of Council 3018; life member of American Legion Post #1776 in Apple Valley, Minnesota; and currently a member of Warren Black Post #60, American Legion, Ottawa. On April 22, 1946, Bob was united in marriage with Laura O'Marro in Fargo, North Dakota. He was survived by his: Wife-Laura Quiggle of the home Daughter-Linda Danford & her husband, Bill, of Corvallis, Montana Daughter-Janet Danford of Rosemount, Minnesota Daughter-Kathy Awe & her husband, Jay, of Rosemount, Minnesota Son-Michael Quiggle of Lakeville, Minnesota Brother-Don Quiggle of Florida Brother-George Quiggle & his wife, Diane, of San Bernardino, California Sister-Marna Miller & her husband, Ted, of Nevada Sister-Jean Mueller & her husband, Howard, of San Bernardino, California Seven-Grandchildren Eleven-Gt.Grandchildren He is preceded in death by his Father-Robert W. Quiggle, Sr. Mother-Merle (Fletcher) Quiggle Three Infant Sons-David, Paul, & Joseph Brother-Jim Quiggle Brother-Bud Quiggle Sister-Dorothy Dormanan Sister-Patsy Quiggle IN STATE: A Rosary will be said at 6:30 Thursday evening at Dengel & Son Mortuary followed by a family and friends visitation from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. SERVICES: A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Ottawa at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2009.
