Robert "Bob" Baker

Robert "Bob" Clark Baker, 79, of Paola, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at Olathe Medical Center. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 7, 2020 at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS, 66071, followed by graveside services at 2:15 pm, Friday, February 7, 2020, at Wagstaff Cemetery. Robert was born Friday, September 27, 1940, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Robert Clark and Mabel (Nickle) Baker. He graduated from Spring Hill High School in 1958. Bob joined the Army right out of high school. He was stationed in Germany where he was a para-trooper. He received an honorable discharge in 1964. He was married to Patricia Patterson. They became the parents of two daughters. He and Pat had a successful St. Bernard Kennel that produced many champions and brought much joy to the neighborhood families. The marriage ended in divorce. Bob worked at as an Instrument Mechanic for Colgate-Palmolive for over 25 years. After retirement, Bob received his ministerial license. He performed many weddings, funerals, and sermons. Bob continued his spiritual studies and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Middle Eastern History. He also traveled to Israel in the mid 2000's. Family was everything to Bob. His extensive research into the family tree speaks for itself. Bob touched many lives through fostering, mentoring, veterans groups and the Paola Senior Center. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bill. Survivors include two daughters, Robin Conner and Leah Istas both of Paola; sister Bonita I. Shade of Overland Park; 6 grandchildren Amie, Keil, Mandy, Sara, Meghan, and Rachel; 13 great grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
