Robert A. "Bob" Mccurdy

Robert A. “Bob” McCurdy, 71, of Ottawa, Kansas passed away Monday, January 13, 2014 at Olathe Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at Ottawa Community Church, 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 17, 2014. Family will meet with friends at the church one hour prior to service. Friends may pay their respects to Mr. McCurdy at Dengel & Son Mortuary from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M. Thursday, January 16, 2014. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Bob was born on Tuesday, July 7, 1942 in Ottawa, the son of Robert and Amy (Hoskinson) McCurdy. He was a lifelong Franklin County resident, attending Ottawa schools. On September 30, 1961 Bob was united in marriage with Kay Neill in Ottawa. She survives of their home. Other survivors include his children, David McCurdy and wife Cindy, Roxanna Welsh and husband Doug, Amy Weien and husband Jeff, and Ruby Wolken and husband Raymond all of Ottawa; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; siblings, Phyllis Gearhart and husband Nelson of Turpin, Oklahoma, Mary Lou Baker of Ottawa, Ruby McKay of Ottawa, Judi Collins of Ottawa, Eldon McCurdy and wife Sandy of Ottawa, Ralph Wilson, Jr. and wife Jane of Pomona, and Mike Wilson of Ottawa; sister-in-law, Kathy McCurdy of Ottawa; nephew, Jeff McCurdy of Ottawa; sister-in-law, Sherri Wilson of Ottawa; and numerous other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Ralph Wilson, Sr.; two brothers, Loren McCurdy and Gary Wilson; sister, Roberta Michaels; granddaughter, Amanda McCurdy; and great grandson, Lucas Dorsey. He worked in construction following his marriage, and in 1971, he was a custodian for the Wellsville School District, later promoted to maintenance director, retiring in 2005.
