Rita E. Taylor, age 70, of Topeka, Kansas, died Friday, August 28, 2009, at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka, Kansas. She was born on Saturday, July 1, 1939, in Rich Hill, Missouri. She was the daughter of William E. “Stub” and Erva E. (Carpenter) Taylor. She lived in Centralia, Kansas from 1976 to 1984, moving to Ottawa in 1984 and Topeka in 2001. Rita graduated from Lane High School with the class of 1958. She worked as a nurse’s aid before becoming a full time homemaker, caregiver, and best friend to her granddaughter’s. On July 28, 1959, Rita was united in marriage with Jim Demmitt in Miami, Oklahoma. They were later divorced. On September 27, 1976, Rita was united in marriage with Jackie L. “Jack ” Taylor in Holton, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1998. SURVIVORS INCLUDE: Daughter-Tamara Demmitt of Topeka, Kansas Daughter-Tina Cramer & her husband, Ron, of Topeka, Kansas Daughter-Jeanette Childrey of El Cajon, California Sister-Alice Mason of Chanute, Kansas Sister-Blanch Lowe & her husband, Raymond, of Oskaloosa, Kansas Sister-Vera Shurtz & her husband, Bob, of Kansas City, Kansas Brother-Bud Taylor & his wife, Dianna, of Ottawa, Kansas Sister-Wanda Lynch, of Vanceburg, Kentucky Brother-Ray Taylor of Pomona, Kansas Brother-Ralph Taylor & his wife, Joan, of Ottawa, Kansas Special Brother & Sister-in-Law, Cloyde & Priscilla Taylor, of Meriden, Kansas Seven grandchildren-Ron Cramer Jr., Nichol Cramer, Makinly Cramer, Danali Cramer, Chelsea Molgren, Ashley Childrey and Colton Childrey Two Great-Grandchildren-Ronnie Cramer, III and Skyler Marlar Shewas preceded in death Husband-Jackie L. “Jack” Taylor Parents-William E. “Stub” & Erva E.Taylor Son-Duane Demmitt Grandson-Gabriel Demmitt Sister-Betty Hamblin Brother-Carl Taylor Brother-Darrel Taylor Brother-Roy Taylor Infant Sister-Faye Taylor Infant Brother-Garland Taylor Infant Brother-Dale Taylor SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2009. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Rita at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 Tuesday evening.
