Riley Darrel Carter, age 89, of Louisburg, KS, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the Louisburg Care Center. He was born June 29, 1921 on a farm northeast of Louisburg the son of C.W. and Bessie Whitaker Carter. On September 27, 1947, he was united in marriage to Zilpah Lewis. He enlisted in the United States Navy in July of 1942, serving his years of service aboard a mine sweeper, and was discharged December 1945. He was employed at Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line for thirty one years, working at the Louisburg Station and in the Kansas City Office. He is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Darrel is survived by his wife of 63 years Zilpah of the home, one sister, Martha Good of Louisburg. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2011 at Penwell " Gabel Louisburg Chapel. Graveside service will follow immediately after the visitation at the Louisburg Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Blister Smith Foundation, Stilwell, KS in care of the funeral home.
