Rickey Lee Beardsley, Jr. was born on Friday, October 6, 1978, in Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of Rickey Lee, Sr., and Donna Joann (Eubanks) Beardsley. Rickey lived in Granby, Missouri, from 1980 to 1987. In 1987, he moved to Ottawa and, in 2004, North Kansas City, where he made his home, until his death on Monday, August 7, 2006, at the age of twenty-seven years. Rickey graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1997, and Magum Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in network and communications management from DeVry University in Kansas City, Missouri, in 2004. He was currently a contractor for the United States Army as a network design engineer. He had previously worked for B. F. Goodrich Aerospace in Gardner, Kansas. Rickey served in the United States Army from January 5, 1998 to April 4, 2000, as a Private First Class E-3. Rickey was a loving, devoted father and husband. He greatly enjoyed their family gatherings, and everyone enjoyed Rickey and, also, his excellent cooking. He also enjoyed writing poetry, watching movies, and playing video games. On July 14, 2001, Rickey was united in marriage with Hallie Ensley in Manhattan, Kansas. She survives of their home, as do their sons, Cameron and Carter. He is also survived by his parents, Rickey, Sr. and Donna Beardsley; b sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer J. and Terry Star of Ottawa; paternal grandparents, Robert and Ruby Beardsley of Warsaw, Missouri; maternal grandmother, Etta Eubanks of Granby, Missouri; father and mother-in-law, Steve and Joy Ensley of Ames, Iowa; sister-in-law, Jessica Reilly, and her husband, Michael, of Tampa, Florida; grandparents-in-law, Robert E. and Rosie Lee of Vermillion, Kansas; grandmother-in-law, Shirley Ensley of Topeka, Kansas; and, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James E. Eubanks, and uncle, James Ray Eubanks. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa, Kansas at 10:00 a.m. with graveside services at 3:00 p.m. at Vermillion Cemetery in Vermillion, Kansas, both on Friday, August 11, 2006. Military honors by Starr-Dreher-Piercy Post #257, American Legion. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Beardsley at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Thursday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8 Thursday evening.
