Rick H. Vogeler

Rick H. Vogeler, 62, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021, at Baldwin Healthcare & Rehabilitation. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 27, 2021, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, August 26, 2021, at the mortuary. Inurnment will be held later at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Rick was born May 24, 1959, in Ottawa, the son of Arthur “Slim” and Lucille (Johnson) Vogeler. He was a lifelong Ottawa resident and attended Ottawa High School. On September 17, 1977, Rick was united in marriage to Becky Gibson in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home. Rick was the owner/operator of V.V. Auto, a used car dealership and body shop, since 1989. He liked to say that he played cars and trucks all day. He attended Ottawa Community Church and was a member of Aerie Lodge 2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles of Ottawa. Rick enjoyed motorcycles, traveling to Mexico with friends, KC Chiefs, and his pet raccoon, Rambo. He had a fun, loving personality and always looked forward to family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joanne Vogeler, brother Charles Vogeler, and sister-in-law Kelly Gibson-Bloomer. Survivors also include a son Cass Vogeler of Ottawa; siblings, Walter Vogeler (Melinda) of Ottawa, Janet Stewart (Blaine) also of Ottawa, Joyce Johnson (Rudy) of Currie, North Carolina, Bob Vogeler (Esther) of Branson, Missouri, and Wayne Vogeler (Carol) of Florida; grandchildren, Mia and Kellan Vogeler, who were affectionately called “Moe” and “Wyatt” and they called Rick “Doda”; and many nieces and nephews.
