Richard O. Sidelinker, 89, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021, at Richmond Healthcare & Rehabilitation. Graveside memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 12, 2021, at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, with military honors by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Richard was born July 5, 1931, at Bangor, Maine, the son of Urban R. and Mary M. (Blinn) Sidelinker. He lived in Kansas City, Missouri moving in 1979 to Ottawa. He graduated from Bangor High School, Bangor, Maine. Richard served in the United States Army from September 1950 to January 1964 during the Korean War. Richard was united in marriage to Arlene Sturm January 25, 1980, at Miami, Oklahoma. From the mid-1980’s to the mid-1990’s, Richard was a vending machine stocker for the General Motors Plant in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1995 until his retirement in 2011 he was in quality control at the Walmart Distribution Center. Richard was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus Council No. 3018 of Ottawa; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 5901 also of Ottawa. He was a craftsman who enjoyed being in his shop doing wood and leather work. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, John Sidelinker; and two sisters, Estell and Alice. Survivors include five children, Raymond Sidelinker of Omaha, Nebraska, Angela St. Pierre, Connie Georgeopolus, Marie Ohlemocher, and Paulette Sidelinker all of Springfield, Massachusetts: and stepdaughter, Charlotte Newkirk of Ottawa. The family suggests memorial contributions to VFW Post 5901 c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
