Richard E. Stephens Jr. (Rick), age 63, of Belton, MO, (formerly of Louisburg, KS), passed away on January 17th, 2019, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. He was born June 10, 1955 to (Richard) Earl and Virginia Stephens, the third of 4 children. A visitation and viewing will be held at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church 5 South 8th Street in Louisburg, KS on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 12: 00 p.m. Funeral service will follow immediately after at the church. Cremation with private inurnment Rick married Debi on October 27, 1979, in Overland Park, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Clifford Stephens. Rick is survived by his wife Debi, children, Jason (Kristen) Stephens of Princeton, KS; Miranda Stephens of Arkansas City, KS; and Nicholas (Jessica) Stephens of Grain Valley, MO; brother, Randy (Peggy) Stephens of Olathe, KS and his sister, Carolyn Holliday of Paola, KS. Also surviving Rick (Papa) are his grandchildren, Aiden Stephens, Mason Stephens, Jamee Gigliotti, Brandy Stephens, Lilly Hall-Stephens, Tori Hall-Stephens, and Micah Stephens. He also leaves behind many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews. Achievements include; Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow, graduated from Washington High School (Kansas City, KS) in 1973, US Navy from 1973 – 1977, Kansas City Kansas Community College – Business Associate degree earned in 1981. He spent 40+ years in the IT industry in and around the Kansas City area. The last 12 years was spent at Peterson Manufacturing (Grandview, MO) as the Corporate Director of IT. He also participated in 9/11 memorial rides and was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders. He was actively involved through his lifetime with his children’s activities including coaching softball and soccer as well as attending all three kids’ school activities and events. Cardo’s (Rick) hobbies and adventures included hanging out with family and friends, Kansas City Chiefs, KU basketball, boating, reading, his Harleys, traveling, and puttering around at their lake house. Those who wish to make a memorial contribution in Rick’s memory may do so to the March of Dimes or Wounded Warrior Project as these were his favorite passions.
