Richard Earl "Dick" Hewlett, 70, of Burlington, KS, died Friday, November 22, 2019. Memorial Services are planned for a later date. Dick was born on March 9, 1949 in East Ely, Nevada the son of Clarence and Kathleen May (Price) Hewlett. He was a resident of the Battle Creek, Michigan area since 1968 later moving to Burlington, Kansas in 2002. Dick was united in marriage to Susan Ann Czajkowski January 31, 1970 in Bronson. Michigan. She preceded him in death in 2001. He later married Louann Gallagher August 02, 2002. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a daughter, Theresa Lee Bowden of Marshall, MI; son, Sean Francis Hewlett of Battle Creek, MI; granddaughter, Kira Marie Bowden and grandson, Ethan Charles Bowden, both of Marshall, MI; brother, Kenneth and wife Betty Jo Hewlett of Carson City, Nevada; two sisters, Nancy L Angel and Mary Ellen Currier, both of Carson City, Nevada; step children James Gallagher of Battle Creek, MI, Michael Gallagher and Theresa Hicks both of Spring Hill, KS, Patricia Gallagher of Burlington, KS; 5 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence in 2007 and his mother, Kathleen in 2016. Dick was employed by the Battle Creek Public School system for most of his adult life, retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Michigan Foster Care Association and Sons of the Legion, American Legion Post 298 in Battle Creek. Dick enjoyed camping, bowling on local leagues, playing cards with friends and was always tinkering with some project. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
