Richard David Andrews, age 74, of Pomona, Kansas, died Monday, September 03, 2012 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka, KS. He was born on Tuesday, May 31, 1938 in San Bernardino, California. He is the son of Howard Thomas and Gertrude (Hood) Andrews. He was a resident of Pomona and Ottawa for most of his life. He also resided in California and Oklahoma Richard attended Redlands High School in California. He was a bus driver for the senior center in Ottawa for five years. Richard served in the United States Navy and the Kansas National Guard for twenty years attaining the rank of sergeant. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901; member of the Jaycee’s in Hutchison, KS; coached girl’s softball in Williamsburg, KS; On April 17, 1959, Richard was united in marriage with Wanda Barkley in Lalton, California. She survives of their home. He is survived by his: Wife-Wanda Andrews Son-Richard Allen Andrews and his wife, Jamey, of Waverly, KS Daughter-Wanda Lee Barnes and her husband, Eveart, of Overbrook, KS Daughter-Shari Louise Gladman of Lawrence, KS Daughter-Cynthia Lynn Sellers and her husband, Michael, of Nowata, OK Brother-Gary Lackey and his wife, Debbie, of Redding, CA Two-Half brothers Granddaughter-Andria Jean Johnson and her husband, Doug Granddaughter-Terri Kay Andrews Grandson-Jesse James Andrews Granddaughter-Victoria Marie Andrews Granddaughter-Kerri Renee Collins and her husband, Chad Grandson-John Michael Schulz Granddaughter-Rebecca Jeanne Gladman Granddaughter-Madison Rae Jones Grandson-David Alvin Sellers and his wife, Lori Great-Grandchildren-Morgan, Lindsey Jo, Erica, Wade, Seth, Briann, Nicole He is preceded in death by his: Parents-Howard and Gertrude Andrews Son-in-law-Kevin Schulz SERVICES: Graveside Inurnment Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 7, 2012, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Pomona, Kansas. VISITATION: Family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 Thursday evening.
