Richard D. Nourot, age 78, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Friday, April 16, 2010. He was born on Tuesday, September 15, 1931, in Port Smith, Ohio. He was the son of Carl and Clema (Davis) Nourot. He lived in Prairie Village, Kansas, moving to Peoria in 1972, and Ottawa in 2006. Richard graduated from Charleston (West Virginia) High School with the class of 1949; St. Bonaventure University in Ohio in 1953, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering; and University of Ohio in 1961, with a Master’s Degree in Business. He was employed in sales with D. S. Brown Co. of North Baltimore, Ohio. He sold bridge and highway materials, traveling sixteen states and two provinces in Canada, retiring in 1998 after thirty-five years of service with the company. He served in the United States Navy for three years. His tour of duty included serving aboard the U.S.S. Toledo in the Pacific, attaining the rank of LT.(jg). He was a member of Sacred Heart Church; former Scout Master; and volunteer for Meals on Wheels. On December 27, 1958, Richard was united in marriage with Carlene Ann Moore in Anaheim, California. She preceded him in death December 11, 1989. On March 10, 1995, Richard was united in marriage with Janie (Laws) Sellers in Ottawa, Kansas. She survives of their home. He is survived by his: Wife-Janie Nourot of their home; Daughter-Nancy Nourot-Friederich of Kansas City, Missouri; Son-Peter Nourot of Kansas City, Missouri; Stepson-Jay Dee Sellers and his wife, Karen, of Austin, Texas; Stepson-Jeff Sellers and his wife, Debbie, of Scottsdale, Arizona; Stepson-Jamie Sellers and his wife, Carissa, of Rosman, North Carolina; Stepson-Jere Sellers and his wife, Veronica, of Prairie Village, Kansas; Stepson-Jason Sellers and his wife, Angie, of Topeka, Kansas; Sister-Ann Louise Costigan of North Carolina; Grandson-Drew Martin and his wife, Jessica, of Kansas City, Missouri; and eleven Step grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his: Father-Carl Nourot; Mother-Clema (Davis) Nourot; First Wife-Carlene Ann (Moore) Nourot; Son-Christopher J. Nourot on January 22, 1984. SERVICES: A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Ottawa at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2010. IN STATE: Cremation is planned. CEMETERY: Private family inurnment services will be held at Peoria Cemetery in Franklin County, Kansas.
