Richard Napier, age 59, of Ewing, Nebraska, died Thursday, November 24, 2011, at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa, Kansas. He was born on Thursday, January 31, 1952, in Pierre, South Dakota, the son of Dale and Betty (Fry) Napier. He was a longtime resident of Coolidge, Arizona, moving to Ottawa, Kansas in May of 2011. Richard graduated from Coolidge High School with the class of 1972. He worked for 20 years as a correctional officer for the state of Arizona, retiring in 2005. Richard served in the United States Army from February 26, 1970, until July 25, 1973, attaining the rank of Sgt. E-5. He served during the Vietnam War from July 1970 until March 1972, and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze star. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. On June 26, 1993, Richard was united in marriage with Dyanna Lucero in Coolidge, Arizona. She survives of their home. He is survived by his: Wife-Dyanna Napier of the home Son-Aaron Napier and his wife, Lisa, of Eloy, Arizona Daughter- Brionnah Hall of Hope, Kansas Brother-Roger Sterner of Nebraska Sister-Nancy Overgard of Nebraska Sister-JoAnn Haldiman of Muncie, Indiana Grandchildren-Four He was preceded in death by his: Parents-Dale and Betty Napier Sister-Marylou Robin Napier SERVICES: Celebration of Life Services will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa, Kansas, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2011. CEMETERY: Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.
