Richard Baxter Bowden, III, was born February 17, 1935, at Kansas City, Kansas. He was the son of Richard Baxter `Pete` and Freda Margaret (Kremsreiter) Bowden. He lived in Kansas City, Kansas for thirty-six years and Shawnee, Kansas six years. In 1978, he moved to Rantoul, in Franklin County, Kansas, where he made his home until his death Monday, April 1, 2002, at the age of sixty-seven years. Richard was a high school graduate and attended college for two years. He worked in sales for Sunflower Sporting Goods in Kansas City for sixteen years, retiring in 1972. Richard was an outdoorsman who enjoyed the serenity of country-living on the family farm. He also loved animals and enjoyed the companionship of his dog and caring for him. He is survived by six cousins, Richard Kremsreiter of Trimble, Missouri, C. J. Wishard of Pasadena, Texas, Frank Wishard of Palacios, Texas, Gerald Wishard of Houston, Texas, Betty McGuire of Palm Bay, Florida, and Shirley Sloyan of Pearland, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Baxter Bowden, Jr., on May 30, 1995, and Freda Margaret Bowden on September 21, 1987. SERVICES: Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2002, at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Richard Dunn. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas.
