Richard Allen 'Chuck' Curtis was born on Thursday, August 12, 1965, in Ottawa, Kansas. He was the son of Mary A. (Callahan) Curtis. A lifelong resident, Richard made his home in Franklin County, Kansas, until his death on Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at the age of forty-two years. Richard graduated from Pomona High School in Pomona, Kansas, with the class of 1984. He was a lifelong mechanic and worked the last twelve years as an automobile mechanic for White's Automobile, Inc. in Louisburg, Kansas. Richard was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. His family was of greatest importance to him, and, he enjoyed spending time with his many friends. Richard was an outgoing person with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed all sports and was a loyal follower of the Kansas City Chiefs, Royals, and K-State Wildcats. He was also an avid NASCAR fan, especially enjoying driver, Greg Biffle. On January 7, 1990, Richard was united in marriage with Crystal Sleichter in Ottawa, Kansas. She survives of their home. He is also survived by his daughter, Chelsey Curtis of Baldwin City, Kansas; sister, Elizabeth Bell and her husband, Jim, of Chapman, Kansas; two brothers, Tony Curtis and his wife, Shawna, of Bowie, Texas, Danny Curtis and his wife, Jamie, of LaCygne, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mom, Mary A. Curtis. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2007. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Curtis at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after noon onThursday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 6 to 7 Thursday evening. CEMETERY: Oak Lawn Cemetery, LaCygne, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to the Richard Curtis Memorial Fund, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
