Rhonda Jolene Kinion (Shields), 67, from Princeton, Kansas died December 22nd 2024 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota with family by her side, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born September 6th, 1957 to Robert and Dorothy Shields in Garnett, her family later moved to Princeton and she graduated from Central Heights in 1975.
Rhonda married Paul Wayne Allen of Wellsville, Kansas on April 24th 1975. They later divorced. Of this union, three beautiful children were born.
On April, 5th 2002, she married Marcus William Kinion of Arizona. They made their home in Princeton, Kansas.
Rhonda worked at the Walmart Distribution Center in Ottawa for the last 28 years in several capacities, but most recently in maintenance. Prior to that she ran a home daycare and cared for many children for over a decade. She also worked at King Radio and Ottawa Retirement Village.
During the time her children were growing up she enjoyed doing crafts with them, and her children fondly remember how special she made each birthday with homemade cakes and decorations. Rhonda enjoyed celebrating holidays with her family, going to lunch with her sisters, gardening, exercising and shopping.
Rhonda and Marcus adopted many cats over the years and taking care of them was an important part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert (Bob) Shields, and Dorothy Shields of Princeton.
Rhonda is survived by her husband, Marcus Kinion of the home, Princeton. She is also survived by three children; daughter Stacey Allen of Ottawa, son-in-law, Patrick Hayes. Sons, Clint Allen and wife Nicole of Ottawa and Ben Allen of Lawrence, Kansas. Four grandchildren, Grey, Samuel, Joseph, and Elizabeth all of Ottawa, Kansas. Two sisters, Linda Detwiler and husband Keith of Garnett, Darlene Reed and husband Steve of Richmond and one brother, Gary Shields and wife Sharon of Princeton. As well as many nieces and nephews.
She was cremated. A Visitation will be held at Dengel and Sons in Ottawa KS. on Friday January 3rd from 5-7 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin County Cancer Foundation or Prairie Paws Animal Shelter.
