Reva Turner, 90, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Monday, July 21, 2014, at Ottawa Retirement Village. Family will meet with friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 25, 2014, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, followed by funeral services at 2:00 P.M. Interment Welda Cemetery, Welda, Anderson County, Kansas. Reva was born in Wayne County, Iowa on Monday, May 5, 1924, to Pailman and Bessie (Maude) Shepard. She moved from Iowa to Anderson County at the age of 2 years and lived in Topeka for 4 years before moving to Ottawa in 1958. Reva was united in marriage with Claude “Bud” Turner October 28, 1940, in Iola, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and Melvin Shepard; two sisters, Lois Ellis and Murel Irene Olechea; three grandsons, Gilbert Proctor, Roy A. Proctor, Jr., and Joe Conaway; son-in-law, James Minnick; and two daughters-in-law, Delene Turner and Carla Turner. Survivors include her three children, Mary Proctor and husband Roy, Glenda Minnick, and Claude Turner all of Topeka; twelve grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; seventeen great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Myrtle Francis of Colony, Kansas and Norma Kester of Yates Center, Kansas; and lots of loving nieces and nephews. Reva was a lifelong devoted homemaker. She was a member of the G.L. Club, former member of Ottawa Aerie Lodge 2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary 5901.
