Regan Marie Johnson, of Paola, passed away December 7, 2017. She was a hard-headed, sassy, independent young woman with a fire in her spirit that you couldn’t miss. Born April 26,2001 in Overland Park, KS to Mark Johnson and BJ Thomas Johnson, Regan grew up in Paola and was currently a junior at Paola High School. She also was in the CNA program through Fort Scott Community College and was set to complete the program this month. She truly had a passion for caring for others and was excited to begin working in nursing while continuing to pursue her nursing degree. Growing up, Regan was involved in many activities throughout the community including several recreational sports, Slammers and KS Krush volleyball clubs, Twin Valley 4H Club, and FFA. At the age of 7, Regan competed in her first 4-wheeler race and her true passion for being on the track was born. Over her racing career she earned multiple awards. In 2017 she participated in the MWEDT National Series (Midwest Extreme Dirt Track Series) where she enjoyed 18 races in just 24 weeks across 5 states earning 4th overall in the women’s division. It also earned her an invitation to compete in the Fastest Woman in the US event in 2018. Regan’s infectious smile and huge heart touched everyone she met. She is survived by her father, Mark Johnson, of Paola; her mother and step father, BJ Thomas and Jeremy Wilson, of Overland Park; her sister Riley and step siblings Tanner and Eliana Wilson, all of Overland Park. She also leaves behind her grandparents Keith and Kay Johnson, of Wheatland, Mo; Larry and Cathy (Lou) Thomas, of Lane, KS; and Mike and Carolyn Doherty, of Paola. She is also survived by countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved her. She was a fiery little redhead who will be missed by many. Memorial contributions may be made to Regan Johnson Nursing Scholarship and sent in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary-Crematory, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS, 66071. Family and friends are encouraged to post their condolences and memories on Regan's Tribute Wall.
