Rebecca Lynn 'Becky' DePriest was born July 12, 1955, at Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Othal Lee and Ruth Marie (Peugh) DePriest. Following high school, Becky moved from Ottawa to Emporia, Kansas, and, in 1985, to Sacramento, California. She returned to Ottawa in 1993, where she made her home, until her death Monday, December 13, 2004, at the age of forty-nine years. Becky graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1973. She worked for Laird Noller Ford in Lawrence, Kansas, in the warranty department one year, from 2003 to 2004. In the 1990's and early 2000's, she was employed ten years in the service department for Ottawa Ford. She attended Cherry Street Wesleyan Church in Ottawa. Becky enjoyed the outdoors, working in her garden and caring for her flowers. She had a great love for music, enjoyed creating various craft items, and was an expert in scrap booking. She was deeply devoted to her family and adored her grandchildren. Most important to Becky was the time they spent with her. She also enjoyed the companionship of her dogs, Katie and Chicka. Becky's significant other of ten years, Bill Callaghan, survives of their home. Also surviving are Bill's two sons, Brett Callaghan and Curt Callaghan, both of Ottawa, and daughter, Sarah Callaghan of Los Angeles, California. Becky is also survived by her daughter, Abbi Watts and her husband, Justin, of Olathe, Kansas; five brothers, Ronald DePriest of Ottawa, Gary DePriest and his wife, Diana, of Topeka, Kansas, David DePriest and his wife, Marcia, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Harold DePriest and his wife, Janet, of Highland Village, Texas, Phillip DePriest and his companion, Lori Stafford, of Ottawa; sister, Martha Dodd and her husband, Bobby, of Ottawa; and, two grandchildren, Kale and Jackson Watts of Olathe, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Don Alan DePriest. MEMBERSHIPS: She attended Cherry Street Wesleyan Church in Ottawa. MARRIAGE: Becky`s significant other of ten years, Bill Callaghan, survives of their home. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from Cherry Street Wesleyan Church, Ottawa, 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 17, 2004. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Scott Dickinson. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Ms. DePriest from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the Dengel & Son Mortuary, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8 Thursday evening.
