Rebecca "Becky" Sue Riemer

April 20, 1973 — March 22, 2014

Rebecca Sue “Becky” Riemer, 40, of Ottawa, Kansas died Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Cremation is planned. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Crosspointe Community Church. Family will meet with friends one hour prior to services. Becky was born on Friday, April 20, 1973 in Ottawa, the daughter of Richard and Marilyn “Susie” (Tipton) Riemer. She was a lifelong Ottawa resident and graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1993. Survivors include her parents of Ottawa; sister, Rachel Davidson and husband Kevin of Gardner; maternal grandfather, Samuel Tipton, Sr. of Ottawa; nephews, Keanon, Kaden and Christopher Davidson; niece, Britney Davidson; nine aunts; eleven uncles; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Riemer; nephew, Brandon Davidson; maternal grandmother, Eleanor Tipton; and paternal grandparents, Ralph and Viola Riemer. Becky worked for USD 290, as a paraprofessional, for several years. She was also employed, as a cook, for Head Start in Pomona. For the last five years, she worked for Little People’s Place Child Development Center in Gardner, first as a cook and then as a preschool teacher. She was an active member of Crosspointe Community Church, Ottawa, where she passionately served in many capacities. Becky sang with the worship team, taught a girl’s group on Wednesday nights, and was a vital part of the Vacation Bible School ministry. Whenever she was able and the church doors were open or there was a volunteer job that needed to be done, Becky was there. Becky was a kind and caring person who always had a smile on her face. She loved her family and always enjoyed spending time with her nephews. Becky was a loyal friend and enjoyed making others happy; she would do anything for a laugh – even if it came at her own expense.   As an avid crafter, Becky enjoyed making greeting cards. She also enjoyed bargain hunting at garage sales, and would always be mindful of what others might need.  The family suggests memorial contributions to Crosspointe Community Church Children’s Ministries c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067. An online Guest Book is available at www.dengelmortuary.com.
