Rayola Belle Chambers was born on Saturday, August 30, 1930, in Baldwin City, Kansas. She was the daughter of Jesse Raymond and Anna Belle (Pancake) Cunningham. Rayola grew up in Garnett and Iola, Kansas, moving to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas, in 1949, where she made her home until her death on Sunday, January 14, 2007, at the age of seventy-six years. Rayola graduated from Iola High School with the class of 1949. She was a homemaker and also cared for children of many families in Ottawa. She was employed as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company during the 1950's, where she earned recognition for perfect attendance, and worked in Cornerstone Book Store in Ottawa in the 1980's. She was a forty-five year member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she was a church hostess and active in Westminster Presbyterian Women. She was a fifteen-year volunteer of Friends of the Library and Ransom Memorial Hospital Gray Ladies. Rayola loved music and books. She was a gracious lady who had many talents.
