Raymond L. Stagg age 88 passed away March 14 at his home. Raymond Leslie Stagg was born on Aug. 17, 1926 in Leavenworth, Kansas to Earl Raymond Stagg Sr. and Evelyn Gladys (Parker) Stagg. He attended Central High School in Kansas City, Mo. At the age of 18 he was drafted into WWII serving with the 25th Infantry Division and earning the Infantry Combat Badge. He was sent to the South Pacific, New Guinea, Philippines, and Occupation Japan. Ray started his own printing company Ray Printing Inc. in 1951. He married the former Ruth Kessel and adopted a son, Randy Joseph Stagg, they later divorced. Ray then married the former Eleanor Wittman who later died of cancer. He met Wanda (Borum) Howerton through mutual friends and they were married in December of 1974. Ray was very active in the printing industry including the Master Printing Association as well as election to the Board of Directors of the Printing Industries of America. Ray was a member of Wolf Creek Golf Course for over 40 years. Ray sold his printing business and purchased the 239 acre farm in rural Paola for farming and cattle. In 1982 to present Ray and Wanda purchased and operated Happy Valley Ranch, Inc., a cider press manufacturing company. Ray"s hobbies were bowling, playing golf, playing cards, reading, woodworking, and bird hunting. Wanda and Ray enjoyed building their home on their property, skeet shooting, traveling, spending time with their grandchildren and playing golf together. Ray and Wanda have one daughter, Leslie, who is married to Kevin Rudzinski. They have four children. He was preceded in death by his father Earl Raymond Stagg Sr., mother Evelyn Gladys (Parker) Stagg, brother Earl (Bud) Raymond Stagg Jr. and son Randy Joseph Stagg. He is survived by his wife, sister Maxine Stagg-Johnson of Tempe, AZ, daughter Leslie and son-in-law Kevin Rudzinski of Seymour, IN, four grandchildren as well as several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by those that knew him. Memorials can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Salvation Army.
