Raymond Brune

Raymond William Brune, formerly of Spring Hill, Kansas and Sun City West, Arizona, passed away on Tuesday, December 29,2009. He passed peacefully in his sleep at the age of 93 in the Life Care Center in Osawatomie, Kansas. Raymond was born April 13, 1916 in Lawrence, Kansas. He was the only child of Oscar and Bertha (Stehwien) Brune. Raymond lost both of his parents at an early age, leaving him to run the family farm when he was just 24. He married Mildred Fickel on April 5, 1940. They became the parents of two children, Joanne and Larry. Raymond and Mildred continued to work the farm in Spring Hill until Mildred's death in 1980. Raymond married Eva (Oram) Branch in August of 1981; he retired soon after and the couple moved to Arizona. Eva preceded him in death in 2001. Raymond resided in Sun City West until he moved to Osawatomie in May 2008 to be closer to his family. He is survived by his children, Joanne Ward and husband Gene of Osawatomie; Larry Brune of Holton, Kansas; four granddaughters; Gina Guilfoyle of Kansas City, Missouri; Angie Hoskins of Osawatomie; Jacki Renard of Sherman Oaks, California; Jamie Miller of Shawnee, Kansas and ten great grandchildren. He was so loved by his family and all that knew him; he will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Disabled American Veterans Association in care of the funeral home.
