Ray W. Potter, 88, of Ottawa, Kansas passed away Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Ottawa Retirement Village. Funeral services will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 11, 2013. Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Potter at Dengel & Son Mortuary from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 10, 2013 and prior to services Wednesday. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. Ray was born on Saturday, August 15, 1925 in Ottawa, Kansas. He was the son of William Edgar and Elva Mae (Seneff) Potter. Ray was a lifelong Ottawa resident. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1943. On May 12, 1946 Ray was united in marriage with Orpha Hoover in Ottawa. She survives of their home. Survivors also include his two sons, David Potter of Ottawa, and Randy Potter and wife Carla of Topeka; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and sister, Emma Arnold of Ottawa. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Owen Potter; and four sisters, Edith Landes, Hazel Mock, Vera Ferguson, and Lucille Elliott. Ray worked for Ottawa Coop from 1965 to retirement in 1989. He handled feed delivery and the retail store. He was also a lifelong farmer, farming livestock and crops. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. The family suggests memorial contributions to Calvary Baptist Church c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
