Ray Seibel, 89, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Kansas City Hospice House. Services will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 7, 2013. Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Seibel at Dengel & Son Mortuary from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M. Saturday, October 5, 2013 and 1:00 to 5:00 P.M. Sunday, to the service hour where the family will meet with friends from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. Sunday. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. Ray was born on May 17, 1924 at Marion, Kansas, the son of Pete and Lillie (Whitmeyer) Seibel. He lived with his family and attended school in Marion, Kansas until moving with them to the Centropolis area in 1941 and to Ottawa in 1953. Ray was a farmer for many years and worked as a welder for about eighteen years and as a school custodian for USD 290 for twenty years, retiring in January 1989. He was a former member of the Centropolis Baptist Church and attended Calvary Baptist Church years ago. Surviving family members include his niece, Melinda Bluff and husband Earle of Taylors, South Carolina; two nephews, Keith and Reggie Curtis of Ottawa; and great nephew, Aaron Bluff of Taylors. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean Curtis; niece, Barbara Curtis; nephew, Gerald Curtis; and brother-in-law, Harold Curtis.
