Ray Dean Bendorf, age 80, formally of Louisburg, KS and currently of Paola, KS, died on March 24, 2009 at the Life Care Center in Osawatime, KS. Visitation will be at 10 AM, Saturday, April 4, at the First Baptist Church, 406 Vine, Louisburg, KS. A 11:00 AM memorial service will be held at the church followed by a masonic ceremony. Military honors and burial will be at the Louisburg Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Louisburg Masonic Lodge, or the Abdallah Shrine. To leave condolences, please visit our website at www.penwellgabel.com. Ray and twin Fay were born on March 28, 1928, in Louisburg, KS, to Jake Bendorf and Martha Whitmore Bendorf. He graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1946 and served in the United States Army in Germany from 1954 to 1956. On June 24, 1975, Ray was united in marriage to Betty Jenkins Harper in Miami, OK. Ray worked for Charles Dellinger of Bucyrus and then worked for Jack Cooper Transport Company as a truck driver for 35 years. Ray was a member and past master of the Louisburg Masonic Peace Lodge #243. He received his masonic 50 year emblem in January of 2009. He also was a life member of of the Louisburg V.F.W. and the Scottish Rite. He was a member of the Abdallah Shrine Mounted Patrol, Eastern Star and the Louisburg Shrine Club. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, brother Harold, sister Fay McLloyd, and nephew Harold Moody. Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; step-daughter, Jeanette Mathena and husband Richard of Huntsville, AL; step-son, Wayne Harper of Pleasanton, KS; niece, Dorthy Volosky of Kansas City, MO; nephew, Luther McLloyd of Kansas City, MO; two step-grand children; and one great-granddaughter.
