Randy New, age 62, of Paola, KS, passed away on October 30, 2023 at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas.
He was born on February 15, 1961 to Kenneth and Marilyn (Roush) New at Ottawa, Kansas. He grew up in Paola and graduated from Paola High School with the Class of 1979.
He was a member of Victory 4-H Club and his main 4-H project was showing cattle. He received reserve and grand champion steer several times at the Miami County Fair and even showed cattle at the Kansas State Fair several years. He participated in many sports during his junior high and high school years including wrestling, basketball, football, and baseball. He also was very active in FFA during his high school years. After graduating from high school, he attended Fort Scott Community College on a Livestock Judging Scholarship.
Randy's first marriage was to Cindy Burroughs. Together they had two children Quentin and Haley. Their marriage ended in divorce. He later married Kim Mitchell and they had two children together, Tynan and Ashtyn. Their marriage ended in divorce.
Randy had worked at Richmond Truck Top Manufacturer, Gill Studios, and True Green Lawn Care.
He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Kansas City Chiefs and K.U. basketball team.
Randy is survived by his parents Kenneth and Marilyn (Roush) New of Paola; son Quentin New (Fran) of North Carolina; daughter Haley New of Gainesville, FL; son Tynan New of Linn Valley, KS; daughter Ashtyn New (Dawson) of LaCygne, KS; 5 grandchildren; two sisters Tammy Bell (Tony) of rural Osawatomie and Debby Stout (Shane) of rural Lane, KS; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister Rhonda McDonald, his paternal grandparents Charles and Verna (Bones) New, and his maternal grandparents Bruce and Maxine (Hutton) Roush.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., November 6, 2023 at Dengel & Son Mortuary-Crematory, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS, 66071. Private inurnment will take place at a later date in Princeton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Miami County Cancer Foundation or Miami County 4-H Foundation which can be sent c/o the funeral home.
